You call me as I sit in traffic and ask me to come over. I am excited at the idea of seeing you, but the traffic is bumper to bumper and my AC is out. I was already frustrated by my predicament and your call hasn't helped settle me. I growl something noncommittal into the phone and feel a pang of regret at the let down sound in your voice when you say ok. I realize you need me there. I smile after a long moment but then grimace again almost as quickly.

It was a beautiful Saturday night, a clear star lit sky with a full moon overlooking what seemed to be an ordinary neighborhood. As I drove through, its normalcy is what stuck me first, everything looked the same.

I didn't think that I quite understood what I had just heard. My face must have been quite red and Brittany admittedly blushed as well, realizing that she had just said. My lovely, nerdy young tenant and neighbor (her husband and she leased a home from me) had just propositioned me in a way I couldn't quite forget.

Kate was feeling a bit awkward. She didn't view herself as an anti-social person, but parties really weren't here thing. She was fine with people one on one, but had difficulty integrating into groups. The fact that she didn't really know anyone other than Nathaniel made it especially difficult for her. She felt bad about clinging to his side, but was too nervous to leave it and be surrounded by complete strangers. Even with a few drinks in her, she just couldn't seem to let her guard down and meet new people.

Picking up her wristwatch off the back of the closed toilet seat lid she squinted at the face as she made out the position of the hands. 7:16pm and counting she thought as she tossed the watch down and lounged back against the plush air pillow. With an impatient sigh she willed herself to relax in the hot sudsy bubbles as the water gently lapped against the inner sides of the tub.

From the back room she entered. I watched her. I saw her glance at Me, then look away. Then she looked again and smiled. I turned My head back to the magazine I was pretending to read. I smiled to Myself. This was such fun.
she started working at the local drug store about a year ago. The first time I saw her I recognised her from years earlier, when she was just another awkward skinny kid along with a bunch of others, kicking cans.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
This is a stand-alone story but the characters are the same I used in my story 'Get A Room'. It's not a sequel but more another episode of the same show. Let me know what you think about it. - Rose

There's a standard joke when the UK is hit with cold weather - that we're utterly unable to cope. Even a sprinkling of the white stuff brings the road and rail networks virtually crashing to a halt. Schools close, people can't get to work, supermarkets are swamped by panic buyers and tabloids declare 'SNOWMAGEDDON!'

It felt odd, sitting in front of the screen, waiting to have a conversation with someone. But then it wasn't just a screen. A camera, too. I can see you. Big deal, I can see you too. I like the anonymity of the telephone, I can curl myself up, pull faces, read the news, hell, I can even play with myself, safe in the knowledge that no-one gets anything more than my voice. This felt a lot more dangerous.

Summer at last, a day at the beach, you bloody beauty, but hang on, I suppose some sort of intro is necessary I guess – my name is Devlin Watergate, I'm 46, widowed, I have a 22 year old daughter who is the spitting image of her mother, presently overseas working for the Australian High Commission. She comes home occasionally which rather cramps my style a little, but having her home makes up for that.
