Converting the small bus into a camper had taken some time but time is something that I, as a retired widower, had plenty of. Now that the bus was up and ready to roll I had only to pick up my passenger to start my long awaited tour of Australia.
Heather had been my neighbour for over ten years she had divorced her husband Alan five year ago. Despite being an intelligent attractive woman in her mid thirties she was painfully shy. It had taken me ages to break down that barrier.

It was about 3 in the morning and Mark rolled out of bed with a keen thirst. He cursed himself for not having had the foresight to bring a glass of water to bed. They had been out to dinner, he and his wife, their son and daughter, plus three of his daughter's friends, Imogen, Hazel and Maddi. It had been a celebration for his daughter's 18th, and it had been expensive. But Mark didn't mind. Not just because he is a doting father, or because he is what you might call comfortably well-off, but because it gave him a chance to enjoy his daughter's sexy friends.

Crack. The sound slices like a steel blade through the chatter of the conference room. Heads whip around, staring at me, while I stare at the broken glass of water. The glass of water I was supposed to bring.
"Well don't just stand there, clean the bloody thing up."
I bend down, black pencil skirt riding up slightly as I gingerly pick up the delicate shards of glass.

My wife's daughter came to visit for the holidays. It's a second marriage for both of us; she has two kids by a previous marriage, and I have three. Susan, her daughter, is in her late twenties and has never married. She's had a few close calls, but for one reason or another, things just never seemed to work out.

Pulling into the drive way Michael noticed nearly every light in the house was on, which was quite a feat, considering the amount of rooms. He braked outside the garage, staring at the house, wondering what was going on before he remembered Anna's Christmas party. He wasn't supposed to be home for it, but had flown back a day early from Berlin. It had been a disastrous romantic getaway, and one he was happy to cut short. Anna was sure to be disappointed that her dad was back to ruin the party and he briefly considered checking into a hotel for the night.

I stood at the door with my colorfully wrapped gift. I had just rung the doorbell a minute before and was waiting patiently. I'm 19 years old and it was my friend Janet's 20th birthday, and she was having a birthday party that evening. Nothing huge, a few of her relatives and a few friends, but I had been looking forward to it nonetheless.

It was the first day of class and Chris was feeling very self conscious. The professor went around the room having everyone introduce themselves. At 39, Chris listened to student after student saying their name, and that they had just gotten out of high school. When it was his turn, Chris stood up, turned to the class and said, "Hi, I'm Chris, and I did not just get out of high school."

Mr. Pearson was away on travel again. I had met him about four weeks ago and borrowed some money from him to fix my car, well anyway, when I tried to repay him, he said it was a gift and to just forget it. That's when I asked him if there were some way I could sort of work it off by doing some sort of jobs for him.

I'd been late all day -- late for morning chow, in the latrine too long, and late for Physical Training on the afterdeck. All I heard, hour after hour, was screaming from the sergeants.
How I ended up in the Army, I'd never know. At only 5'2", I thought I was too short for the draft, but in 1942, the physical test for the US Army was, "You got two arms? You got two legs? You pass!"

Michael Richter sighed as he looked at his watch and realised he was home late, again. Alison would already be out at her fundraising thing, and the babysitter would be dressing their son Jonah, after his bath. He should have left work an hour earlier but the account manager had called him into her office just as he was leaving. Penelope was the best manager he'd ever had, and though she had a reputation for having high expectations, he figured she had every right to: she had built a strong team and worked hard to keep her people happy, knowing how important morale was to a business.
