Another day at the office, finished. I was so thankful that it was Friday. I paid the cabby and then opened the cab door, struggling to pull my briefcase and Kenneth Cole purse out of the door before the overzealous cab driver zoomed off to find another fare. I had barely slammed the door when he raced off, going to make another dollar in the Big Apple. I cursed as I tripped over the curb, almost snapping the heel off my shoe. The cold New York wind whipped my long hair across my face, stinging my cheeks. I swore that one day I was going to move, but nowhere else paid as much for Interior Design as New Yorkers did. I climbed the 9 stairs to the front door of my building where Arthur, the doorman, stood waiting.

When I woke up, I panicked, almost choked on the collar around my throat. The leather dug into my windpipe as I jerked on the cold cement floor, hurting my shoulders and arms.
My hands were cuffed behind my back, my naked body pressed to the floor sideways, as my legs, which were free, kicked wildly in a desperate attempt to get loose. I let out a feral scream, almost choking again on the thick leather around my neck.

On Caitlin's thirtieth birthday, she woke to find a letter on her husband's pillow.
"Open at 10 AM," it said.
She looked at the clock. It was 8:15.
She looked back at the envelope, and considered it.
If she opened it now, there was absolutely no way Richard could know. Right?
As logical as that seemed, Caitlin didn't trust that. Richard had a way of knowing these things.

She met me at the airport.
'My boss, Mr Li,' (she pronounced it "Lee,") 'is very sorry he is not here to meet you personally. Something came up. He apologises, and hopes my coming in his place does not cause offence.' Large eyes dropped to the floor of the Arrivals Hall, as many of the other eyes, nearby, were on her, the cutie who was giving me the message. I couldn't imagine what she meant. If I had to choose between Li, a rather sneaky-looking rodent of a man I never really knew if I could trust, and this lovely little innocent, Miss Cheng ... I knew which one I'd take! (I didn't let her know this, of course.)

‘It’s Marcus, to see Lady Windsor,’ he yelled at the intercom.
‘Please drive up to the main entrance Sir, and the butler will greet you there,’ was the tinny reply. A buzzer sounded and the large metal gates slowly opened. The estate was enormous, and it took him a while to drive up to the mansion entrance.

Chapter 1
-"No!" My shriek got my friends' and some strangers' attention in the waterpark.
"What's up?" Cody asked with scrunched up brows. He looks like a cute little puppy with that concerned face. That along with his boy-next-door look always got attention from the women.
"I can't find my bikini anywhere!" I half-sob, half-shriek with a frown on my face. "This is all your fault."

Thinking back on it now, I guess it was because I was pissed off with Jeff that I let it happen. We'd argued that morning. I can't even remember what about. He wasn't my favourite person right then.
"Bedrooms upstairs," the assistant estate agent said – the older of the two, clearly the junior of the team. Dick Glover, of Glover and Glover Real Estate Agents, looked the part: sharp creases, white teeth, lot of bowing, sparkling eyes.

It had been a rough week. Fighting with the wife had made my night life quite quiet. To top it all off she had decided to go and visit her mother for the weekend. She must have been really pissed off as she told our daughter that she could have one of her college friends spend the night.
I wasn't really impressed as I was now responsible for the two of them and all their miscreant behaviors.

The second estate agent was in his forties. He had a heavy, ponderous look about him and a blue shadow round his jaws as if her were poorly shaved. His name was Cheetham. It was he who watched her. She looked to be early twenties, seemed nervous, as if she was unsure of herself. They'd been married three months. The husband's name was Christopher. He was in a wheel chair.

Jeannie and I were just hanging out around the pool like most 18-year olds do the first summer after they leave high school, but before they land a job or run off to college for the next four years. Jeannie and I had plans for Berkley. Together. We did everything together and had since we were children. We even wore the same clothing. Perfect size 10s in a world that valued size 4s.
