When I was 13 my family moved to the LA area of California and we lived there until I was 17, a senior in high school. My dad, a software engineer got transferred up to the San Francisco area and so we moved once again. I was pretty bummed as I had made a bunch of really good friends. I am not sure why I too the pill. I suppose that it seemed like a good idea at the time, or rather, it didn't, and I was done with good ideas. A full course load during my senior year of University was a good idea so that I would be ahead when I started graduate school in the fall. Coming home for spring break to rest and work on my senior thesis instead of heading to the beach with my roommate was also a good idea.

It all started with a political discussion my wife, Kim, and I were having. There had been some article in the paper about a prostitute being arrested by an undercover policeman, and I had made some comment to the effect that I really didn't understand why people made such a big deal out of prostitution.
