It had been a long day. The kind that dragged forever with traffic moving slower than usual, an uncommon streak of red lights, construction at a busy intersection, a thousand small irritations that stretched the day. I was so glad when my small car finally pulled its way into the driveway. Free of the constraints and the prolonged time of sitting cramped behind the steering wheel, I luxuriously stretch my long legs and stride to the front door and step in.

I was laying on the moonlit bed of our recently converted spare room, looking out the low window wondering at the changes moonlight makes on the flowers and trees in full bloom in these late days of spring. The window was open letting in the cool, scent filled air. While I missed my children I was enjoying the peace and quiet of being an empty nester, of being young enough to enjoy it. Feeling so calm and at peace I dozed off.

The bus was just creeping along, it was snowing like crazy and the roads were super slippery. Tess and I were sitting alone, way in the back of the bus, trying to stay warm. There was a heater vent back there, but it didn't help much.
All the boys on the trip were sitting a few rows ahead of us, and they were making a lot of noise.
