Renee hung up the phone and leaned over the desk, cradling her head in her hand. The day at the office had been bad enough, and this was just the icing on the cake.
Somehow, the computer at the thrift store had picked up a virus. Without it, she couldn't print tags, enter anything into inventory, scan it out when someone purchased something, or keep up with the government paperwork.

Sally West had something of a reputation amongst my coworkers for being a bitch. She often would complain about her orders, finding the silliest excuses to call back and make us come back out to her house. The other drivers hated her so much they always took her order last, which of course infuriated her even more. For some reason, though, she seemed to like me; maybe it's just that I was the 'new guy,' or maybe, in light of later events, it was something else.

An interesting thing happened to me this weekend. First, I will introduce everyone a little.
My wife and I live in Suburban, USA. Nothing unusual ever happens here. That was until, Tom and Felicia moved in next door.
They are an attractive couple. Both of them are in their middle twenty's. They don't have any children, yet. Although, I think they are planning on it, soon.

Jessica had just finished getting ready to go out for the evening when Lisa arrived at Jessica's loft. They greeted each other and Jessica offered Lisa a glass of wine. Lisa quickly accepted.
"So where do you want to go out to tonight?" Jessica asked.
"Let's hit that new club just down the street. I wanna dance. Have you been there yet?" Lisa replied.

The parking lot was empty, but that was nothing unusual at six in the morning. Justin rolled up and parked on the far edge of the gravel lot, letting out a yawn. He'd stayed up a little late studying, but he wasn't going to miss the opportunity his father was finally providing. Besides, it was a welcome distraction from the lack of sex resulting from dumping his cheating girlfriend a couple weeks earlier.

I had known Janice for some time but never really talked to her. It's like that in a local bar; you see people but never really get to know them. Anyhow she worked at the hospital as a nurse and always wore the old fashion nurse uniform of white skirt and hose. Every time she came in every guy in the bar would stare. Now she wasn't the most beautiful woman but there was something about the way she carried herself that made her really attractive.

Down came the windows, though she knew that the interior would have a fine coating of gravel dust by the time she returned home. It was the first truly warm day of the year. The office had hired a couple of people to reduce her workload. She'd finally come to her senses and returned to single life after a string of two bad relationships.

It was Saturday night, and I was looking for company. I didn't have any particular prospects, but I did have a standing invitation to attend a party that an acquaintance of mine threw on the first weekend of every month; I had never attended one, but I had a hunch that it might be a good place to go looking for love, seeing as how Randall, the acquaintance, always seemed to be accompanied by a different, very attractive woman.

What a difference two days can make. When I woke up the day before yesterday, I was lying in a hospital bed with more cables attached to me than a substation feeding New York City. At least that's the way it seemed.
I really don't remember how I got there, but they tell me that I was rushed to the hospital after passing out at the mall.

"I'll take a deluxe bacon cheeseburger with fries and a double Stoli martini on the rocks."
The corner of my mouth curled in a smile as I listened to Jack's order. Some things never change. I turned to the waitress.
"I'll have the Chef's Salad, please, and a sparkling water with lime," I said.
Jack leveled his gaze at me and smirked.
"I don't know about your generation, son. Your father never would have ordered rabbit food and water for lunch. What's the world coming to?"
